Why come to counselling?
For many people, therapy is still filled with stigma and talking to a stranger about deeply personal things can feel scary. Deciding whether to seek counselling can spark many questions and doubts within us.
“Do I really need counselling” “ Are my problems and experiences too big or not big enough”? If this if your first time considering counselling or you’ve had counselling in the past, it’s understandable to feel anxious and apprehensive about entering counselling. My aim is to ensure you feel supported as we embark on this journey together.
What to expect
- 1We'll start with an online video conversation so I can get a sense of the kind of support you're looking for. I'll ask for some basic information to get to know you and use this time to answer any questions you might have. If we both feel that we're well-suited to work together, we'll arrange a follow-up in-person or online appointment.
- 2During our initial sessions, I'll focus on getting to know you better, and together, we'll explore your goals for counselling. For example, are you aiming to foster healthier relationships, improve your emotional well-being and manage stress levels, or are there recurring patterns that leave you feeling "stuck"?
- 3The number of sessions will differ for everyone based on your specific goals and needs. We can discuss this in more detail to ensure you're getting the support you need and we'll review and adjust things throughout our sessions.
